SATURDAY

wampanoag nation singers & dancers

The Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers are a group of musicians, educators, and artisans from the tribal communities of Mashpee on Cape Cod, Aquinnah on Martha's Vineyard, and Herring Pond in Bourne. Our performances of eastern social songs and dances have both educated and entertained audiences of all ages in museums, schools, and various multi-cultural events. We dress in our traditional clothing and our songs are accompanied by a water drum and handcrafted rattles. We encourage audience participation and prefer to dance  with the people instead of for the people.

The Harwich Cranberry Festival is honored to include, for the first time, members of the tribal communities to share some of their traditions.

We are humbled to acknowledge that we live on the lands settled and inhabited for more than 10,000 years by

the Wampanoag, the People of the First Light.

SALTED FOLK with Catie Flynn

Salted Folk is a Cape Cod-based acoustic folk duo featuring singer-songwriter Catie Flynn and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Pat Croke. They perform organic, stripped-down renditions of folk, country, blues, and classic rock covers, alongside original material. Catie Flynn (Harwich High School 2004) went on to Berklee College of Music, spent time in Nashville, and retruns to yet another performance at CranJam.

SARAH BURRILL BAND

Sarah has performed at the Harwich Cranberry Festival numerous times, as far back as the 1980s.

Sarah brings to her music and performance a depth and passion that is nothing short of contagious. Whether she is belting out a blues, caressing the melody of a delicate love song, encouraging social consciousness and change or singing about her pajamas, it is an experience that inspires courage, strength and hope. She does all of this while creating an atmosphere of playfulness and spontaneity that is disarming and uniquely Sarah. It takes no time at all to understand she is here to have fun, and she brings her audience right along with her.

The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble is a costumed funk/street beat improvisational brass band performing a unique blend of original and traditional music. Leader Ken Field is a longtime member of the modern music ensemble Birdsongs of the Mesozoic.

ENTRAIN

back by popular demand!

— ENTRAIN has appeared at the CranJam more than any other band

— Boston Music Award-winning Best Live Act

Epic in sound and kaleidoscopic in vision, the eclectic Martha's Vineyard-based Entrain has been thrilling critics and fans alike since its inception. Formed and led by drummer Tom Major in 1993 .... praised for their ability to shift effortlessly between musical styles - from rock, blues, calypso and ska, to zydeco, jazz and funk - often within the same song. "The whole Entrain concept is based on the drums and infectious rhythms. Once we've got that.... anything goes, everything goes," explains Major. "The most important thing that we try to do with our music is bring everybody together in the spirit of peace, love, fun and a ton of drums!"

Entrain's goal is not just to be the biggest and the best, says Major. "We want to create music that makes people feel good. When we look out from the stage, all we see is smiling faces of all ages and bodies moving. You can't beat that feeling. At the same time if we can help to promote positive values and lifestyles... great! There's enough negativity in the world, let's spread a little joy around and watch how infectious it can be."
